Street Child

Street Child is a British charity that started out in 2008 supporting 100 street children in Sierra Leone.  Now working in 10 countries, we help children into education in some of the world’s toughest places.  We provide simple and sustainable solutions such as paying school fees, buying uniforms and learning materials, training teachers, refurbishing classrooms and building schools to ensure that children have access to education.

Fatima’s Story

Fatima’s Story

In north-east Nigeria, Boko Haram killed Fatima’s father in front of her and then held Fatima in a remote camp for 5 years.  She is physically and mentally scarred by her experiences.

Since being rescued from Boko Haram and introduced to Street Child, Fatima is in school for the first time, aged 16.  She is also having counselling sessions and she says ‘My education is helping me and every day I am happy.’

* Having bravely shared her story about her Boko Haram experiences, we have protected Fatima’s identity in these photographs to ensure her safety.

Every child deserves the chance to go to school and learn

Every child deserves the chance to go to school and learn

There are 121 million school-aged children around the world who are not in education.  We believe that’s not acceptable.  By providing more children with quality education we give them better life chances.
