On May 7th, the Coronation Street character of Aidan Connor, played by Shayne Ward, took his life. Along with the writers and production team at Coronation Street, Ward has worked closely with the Samaritans to ensure the storyline was handled sensitively and realistically. Jenni talks to Lorna Fraser, the Samaritans' advisor to UK media on the responsible portrayal of suicide and Jen whose brother took his life 14-years ago.
The German fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth has captured some of the world's most famous supermodels including Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and Claudia Schiffer. Ellen worked as a fashion model herself before taking up photography and becoming known for her playful, erotic images. Jenni went along to view a 30-year retrospective of her work called 'Lady Land' which is on show at London's Opera Gallery.
Choreographer and founder of ZooNation, Kate Prince joins Jenni. Responsible for the dancing in the hit show Everybody's Talking About Jamie she discusses her work on the new musical of An Officer and a Gentleman, currently on tour in the UK, and why she's using dance, hip hop, soul and funk to tell the story of the Suffragette movement in the up and coming musical Sylvia.
People may crave love, a nice home, a decent job and happy children. But, what if you don't have them? Or what if you do but you lose them? The writer Christina Patterson found herself facing her 50th birthday without a job, partner, or family. She joins Jenni to talk about how you pick yourself up when life doesn't go as you expect. Her book, a mix of memoir and interviews, is called 'The Art of Not Falling Apart'.
