Stars of Ruthless Tracie Bennett and Anya Evans, Infertility taboos, Surfing equality
Stars of Ruthless Tracie Bennett and Anya Evans, why struggling with your fertility can be a taboo subject in some communities and changes in the way female surfers are filmed.
Cult musical Ruthless has just opened in London'. It's a satire of the world of ambitious, show children and their pushy parents, producers and press agents. Jenni talks to Tracie Bennett, and 14 year old Anya Evans, one of four girls playing the role of Tina Denmark, who'll be performing one of the numbers from the Show Live in the Studio.
Kat Francois is a performance poet and playwright. In coming to terms with her own infertility she came to the realisation that in all communities, but especially in black communities, infertility can be a taboo subject. Antonia and Nathalie, also women of colour, share their very personal stories with her as we hear her own story through her poetry.
In the wake of the #MeToo movement, it has been reported that The World Surfing League instructed its photographers and cinematographers not to zoom in on female surfers in bikinis when they do bottom turns or duck dives in order to promote equality in the sport. We speak to Former British Surfing champion Sophie Hellyer about the zooming in decision and the backlash she's faced for speaking out.
And a look ahead to this month's Late Night Woman's Hour which in honour of Spring is all about cleaning.
