Monday - BBC National Orchestra of Wales live in Cardiff

Live from Cardiff music by Elgar with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, conducted by Tadaaki Otaka. Also, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra with music by Haydn and Mahler.

This week features the BBC performing groups live in concert, beginning today with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales at Hoddinott Hall. Tadaaki Otaka conducts an all-Elgar repertoire, starting with the Cockaigne overture, followed by Sea Pictures with contralto Claudia Huckle as soloist, then the Serenade in E minor for string orchestra, ending this concerto with In the south overture (Alassio). The afternoon continues with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, recorded recently at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh under the baton of Thomas Dausgaard, first with Haydn's Symphony No. 88 in G major, then with Mahler's Symphony No. 7.
