Armida Quartet - Janacek

The Armida Quartet perform Janacek's String Quartet No 2, inspired by the composer's love for Kamila Stosslova, a married woman nearly 40 years his junior.

The BBC New Generation Artists scheme exists to nurture and promote some of the world's most talented young musicians at the start of their international careers. Tonight, the outstanding young German group the Armida Quartet perform Janacek's searing Second String Quartet. Subtitled "Intimate Letters", the work was inspired by the composer's love for Kamila Stosslova, a married woman nearly 40 years his junior.
