Benjamin Appl, Kathryn Rudge, Lise Berthaud
With Kitty Whateley (mezzo) in Bernstein and Sondheim, Benjamin Apl (baritone) in Barber and Kathryn Rudge (mezzo) in Copland. Plus Laura Jurd (trumpet) and Peter Moore (trombone).
Clemency Burton-Hill celebrates the music making of the BBC New Generation Artists. Today's focus is on American music with performances of classic songs by Barber, Copland, Bernstein and one made famous by Ella Fitzgerald, and an all too rare performance of a viola sonata by Rebecca Clarke who moved to the USA from England soon after the First World War.
