Kicked Out Kids; The Model Industry; Revenging Revenge Porn

A look at new film Kicked Out Kids, the perceptions of beauty in the model industry and responding to revenge porn. Emma Barnett presents.

Revenging revenge porn: how best to fight back when you are the victim of revenge porn? Emma Barnett is joined in the studio by Emma Holten who had her email hacked and intimate images published globally. Find out tomorrow how she took control of the situation. A new film - Kicked out kids - explores what happens when children in care reach 18, the age they have to leave. We explore the impact of this on the lives of children, and discuss the best age for children to leave care. Also we have an interview with Carole White, founder of Premier Model Agency, on the fashion industry, perceptions of beauty and being a model matriach. And as a new report finds that women are underrepresented in digital industries, we ask why this is, and what needs to be done to change it? Plus a look at what election issues are concerning Welsh women.

Presenter: Emma Barnett
Producer: Corinna Jones.

Kids Leaving Care

Children who live in care homes would like to be able to stay until they are aged 21, according to “Staying Put,” a government-funded report.  Under current rules, they must leave after they turn 18 when local authority funding runs out. Last year, legislation was passed allowing children who live in foster homes to remain until they are 21.  So why is there a different system for children in care homes and children in foster homes?  What is the impact on the children concerned?  What is the financial cost? What is the best age for children to leave care?

The film 'Kicked Out Kids' is on Channel 4 tonight at 11.05pm.

Digital Skills Divide

After ten months of collecting evidence, the Lords Digital Skills Committee is about to produce its report into the state of computer skills and IT competitiveness in the UK. One of the main findings is that women and girls are poorly served by current IT teaching at schools and beyond, and that the potential that women in IT could bring to the UK economy is enormous.

Carole White

How do you get a supermodel out of bed for less than £10,000? We ask Carole White - agent to some of the best known faces in the fashion industry – about her career managing models such as Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Linda Evangelista.

Her book, "Have I Said too Much? My Life In and Out of The Model Agency" is published by Random House.

Election in Wales

Three of the political parties in Wales have women leaders. In the run up to the election, Emma Barnett looks at whether that is changing the nature of debate amongst politicians, and asks how the conversations Welsh voters are having about key issues might differ to the rest of the UK. With Bethan Lewis, political reporter for BBC Wales.

Revenge Porn

Emma Barnett speaks to Emma Holten who, after having her email hacked and intimate images of her published all around the world, chose to publish more naked photos of herself. Joining  the discussion is author Fiona Neill who has been researching the internet porn endemic among teens, and who is concerned that the value of privacy is rapidly decreasing.

The revenge porn helpline is run by the South West Grid for Learning charity on 0845 6000 459.

Fiona Neill’s new novel The Good Girl is out in April.
