Roy is in conversation with the Welsh language poet Menna Elfyn who has just been made the inaugural president of the Welsh centre of PEN, the international writers’ organisation which promotes access to literature and defends freedom of expression.

Roy asks her about her life and her work, from her non-conformist background which continues to influence her, to the many national and international causes to which she has leant her voice. The programme also includes Menna’s own readings of her poetry, in English translation.
