As 6 Music gears up for its celebration of South America next week, Now Playing kicks off proceedings with a playlist inspired by music from the continent.
There are many different genres and musicians that have come out of South America; from Salsa to Tejano via Latin Ballad to Reggaeton; and the musicians like Choquibtown from Columbia, Caetano Veloso from Brazil, Susana Baca from Peru or the Uruguayan Jorge Drexler to name just a few.
There are also many 6 Music favourites who have released tracks reflecting South American influences such as The Cat Empire, Basement Jaxx, Quantic AKA Will Holland and Manu Chao.
The playlist will reflect all South American musical styles from countries and musicians past and present.
Song suggestions are invited via Twitter with the hashtag #SouthAmerica6Music, by posting on the show blog or the 6 Music and Now Playing Facebook pages, dragging tracks into the collaborative Spotify and Rdio playlists, or via text and email.
