Crucial Vinyl: Stevie Wonder's Music of My Mind

The Don's Crucial Vinyl, an album dear to him that shaped his musical taste, is Stevie Wonder's 1972 release Music of My Mind.

This week's the Don Crucial Vinyl (a personal choice of album that is dear to him and has shaped his musical taste) is Stevie Wonder's 1972 release Music of My Mind.

Released in 1972, when Stevie was 21 (and Don was 16), this landmark release was the beginning of Stevie's golden period of albums (Talking Book, Innervisions, Fulfillingness' First Finale, Songs in the Key of Life). Apart from trombone and guitar, Stevie played all the instruments himself, including various synthesisers.

The album made a big impression on Don back in 1972, and was a fixture on his turntable for much of that year.

Don's other selections, as ever, cross time, space and genre.
