Historical documentary with dramatic reconstructed first-hand accounts, looking back at some of the headline events of 1911. Featuring the first airman to bomb from the air in raids on Libya, industrial unrest and protest in Glasgow, an armed gang locked in a shootout with the police at Sidney Street, London - attended by the then home secretary Winston Churchill, the mysterious theft of the Mona Lisa in Paris, the race to and the conquest of the South Pole by Roald Amundsen and street protests for equal voting rights by suffragettes.
