In the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, the Vienna Philharmonic perform the annual celebratory concert of waltzes, polkas and marches, conducted by Mariss Jansons.

There is music by four members of the Strauss family, Tchaikovsky and Joseph Hellmesburger Jr. To accompany some of the pieces there are performances by the Ballet of the Vienna State Opera and Volksoper and an appearance of the Vienna Boys' Choir.

During the concert some of the featured land-marks include the Vienna City Hall, Palais Coburg and the Achensee Steam Railway. During the interval there's a series of visual and aural postcards of Vienna shot from the air. The presenter is Petroc Trelawny.
