BBC SO - Beethoven, Bruckner, Neil Brand

Presented by Penny Gore. BBC Symphony Orchestra in Beethoven: Piano Concerto No 3 (with Leif Ove Andsnes). Bruckner: Symphony No 4. Neil Brand: Underground (excerpts).

Presented by Penny Gore
The BBC Symphony Orchestra on tour in Spain: Beethoven and Bruckner in the superb acoustics of the
concert hall in Valladolid, Spain. Leif Ove Andsnes is the pianist and Jiri Belohlavek conducts.

The Orchestra spent last week performing six concerts in cities across Spain.

And composer Neil Brand talks about his new orchestral score for Anthony Asquith's cult 1928 silent film Underground - premiered recently by the BBCSO with the film at the Barbican Hall, London. Set in London, it's a tale of love, jealousy, treachery, and murder. Brand tells the tale, accompanied by music from the new score.
