BBC SSO Song Sessions 2021

In the months leading up to Glasgow hosting COP26 Lucy Drever and musicians from the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra visited schools around Scotland to listen to young people’s views about the future of climate, changes to their environment, and how the world around them might look in the future.

The ideas these young people discussed were turned into the basis for unique music and songs, lyrics and riffs, soundscapes and spoken words: all devised and workshopped by the pupils.

Along with Lucy and the musicians they explored how the process of devising your own music, sketching songs, refining lyrics, and rehearsing ideas, can be a useful way of exploring your own thoughts, and hearing the thoughts of other people.

These films document the process, and capture the views, questions and ideas expressed by the young people in their own voices.
