About Series 1
They are the stuff of your nightmares. And they are your only hope.
Have you ever heard the one about a werewolf, a vampire and a ghost living together? Well for George, Mitchell and Annie, that's no joke - that's their life or afterlife as the case may be. The supernatural trio share a rented house, desperately trying to strike a balance between their paranormal problems and the domestic challenges that regular humans take for granted. All in the hope of achieving the simple pleasure of being human.
When George, a werewolf, and Mitchell, a vampire, move into a house together they are not expecting to share it with a ghost with a confidence crisis in the form of Annie, their uninvited lodger. But by forcing themselves to assimilate into society, they hope to experience the joys and satisfaction of normality. Only they soon realise that 'normality' is far more complex and challenging than they ever imagined.
Despite their extraordinary secrets, George, Annie and Mitchell have more in common with humanity than separates them. Annie's attempts to venture out of the comfort and security of their home are the same as anyone who has lost their confidence. Mitchell's struggle to resist his vampire hunger is that of someone struggling with addiction. And while not everyone transforms into a ferocious wolf every full moon, each of us tries to suppress their anger only to find it released in the most inopportune of moments. It is through the eyes of these outsiders that we can see the brilliance, humour, fragility and complexity of the human condition.
Perhaps the greatest challenge to their quest to be human comes in the form of a dangerous band of vampires determined to wage war on the human race. Herrick, the self-styled leader of the vampire clan, poses a very real threat to humanity and our heroes eventually find themselves embroiled in a secret war. George, Mitchell and Annie commit themselves to defending a world that, if it knew they existed, would despise and fear them. Their battle is on all fronts, with the armies of Herrick on one side, and the complex and ever-changing threats of humanity on the other.
Along the way, our three heroes will also have hugely significant personal stories that will challenge their desire to fit into human society.
George will fall in love with Nina, a feisty nurse at the hospital where he works as a porter. But can he ever have a normal, happy relationship when he hides such a dark and dangerous secret? They certainly won't be kissing under a full moon.
Annie will discover the reason why she is a ghost. She will learn that she is trapped in limbo because of the unjust nature of her death: she was in fact murdered. When Annie revenges her death she will have the opportunity to pass over to 'the other side' but will she leave or choose to stay with her new friends?
Mitchell will have his resolve to turn his back on his vampiric ways tested when a little boy who he has befriended dies. Is being a vampire really so bad if it gives you the power to 'save' the life of an innocent child and mend his mother's broken heart?
Being Human is a witty, exciting, sexy and extraordinary look at the friendship between three twenty-something outsiders trying to find their way in an enticing, yet complicated world. It mixes the mythic with the commonplace, the farcical with the horrific, and the domestic with the epic.
The supernatural housemates discover that being human is more difficult than they imagined. Mitchell struggles to resist his blood lust, Annie is confronted by a ghost from her past and George has nowhere to transform in safety.
Mitchell, George and Annie have the house guest from hell - literally. When George meets another werewolf called Tully it seems that he wants to stay on the sofa forever...
Annie investigates the reason why she's trapped in limbo with the help of Gilbert, a miserable ghost from the 1980s. Elsewhere Lauren won't leave Mitchell alone and George has an admirer at the hospital.
Mitchell makes friends with a boy on the street called Bernie. But after a terrible misunderstanding things turn very nasty. Before long there's a full-blown witch-hunt in the neighbourhood.
Mitchell has turned his back on humanity and is back with the Vampires. Have George and Annie lost their friend forever? Elsewhere, Annie has her mind set on revenge.
Will Mitchell recover from being staked through the chest? If he does then he knows he'll have to confront Herrick once and for all.
