Take part in Ten Pieces Assemblies this June!

Join Ten Pieces in celebrating a fantastic year of music-making and creativity by holding your own Ten Pieces assembly this June!

1. Hold your assembly any time between Monday 3 and Friday 7 June, on a day that works for your school.

2. Share any photographs and videos from your assembly with us on Friday 7 June (our new uploader is coming soon!).

3. Don't forget to sign up at the bottom of this page to let us know you're taking part!

A Ten Pieces Assembly can be anything you want it to be!

Here are some ideas:

Showcase your Creative Responses to Ten Pieces
We want young people to really get creative with classical music and develop imaginative responses to the repertoire. They can experiment with original compositions and various art forms, including dance, poetry, animation and anything else that may inspire them! Creative responses are a great way to encourage cross-curricular activity and can be hugely varied, the more original the better.

Perform one of the pieces
Assemble your school orchestra, choir or any other ensemble/class groups together to perform one (or more) of the Ten Pieces at your assembly. There are downloadable instrumental arrangements for each piece available on our website.

Watch the Ten Pieces Films
If performances or creative responses won’t be possible, you can always use your Ten Pieces assembly to show the Ten Pieces films from the website to get your students inspired. The films feature celebrity talent introducing engaging orchestral performances of each piece. They’re a great way for your students to be introduced to a range of classical music.

Take on our Earth Mission
Holst didn’t write a movement for Earth and so our Earth Mission asks all budding Ten Pieces astronauts (your class) to create their own piece of music about Earth as though they are looking down on it from space! Why not perform your finished composition in your Ten Pieces assembly.

Let us see any photos and videos taken at your Ten Pieces assemblies! Use our new 'uploader' (coming soon!) to share your assembly moments, with a chance to be featured on the Ten Pieces website.

BBC Music Day will now be held in September... sign up to our mailing list to stay in the loop!
