Introducing Radio 1's Christmas Presenters 2019
For the first time, Radio 1 put out an open call for demos to give aspiring presenters a chance to take over a number of shows this December, and now, finally, we can announce the line-up.
From Boxing Day until New Year’s Eve, these presenters will get behind the mic for their first ever Radio 1 show, alongside a handful of Student Radio Awards winners.
This all-new schedule of guest presenters will see a number of firsts for the station too - YouTuber and activist Lucy Edwards will become Radio 1’s first blind presenter, and podcaster Jacob Edward will become the first non-binary person to host a show.
Laurie Charlesworth will become the first woman to host Radio 1’s Drum & Bass Show and Nakia and Fabienne Oliver will become the first sister duo to co-present a late night dance show.
Here's the lowdown on who you will be hearing this Christmas.

“When I found out that I was going to be presenting on Radio 1 this Christmas… I cried. Haha! Dreams do come true, kids.”
Laura has been waking up Kent for three years now with the Breakfast show on kmfm. As a child she was always the one being told off for talking - which made her even more determined to make a job out of it one day. So it was no surprise when she moved to London to study broadcast journalism at City University and join Roundhouse Radio.
"Being part of the Christmas schedule is a dream come true, I just hope I’m still on the good list after they let me loose at Radio 1!"

It'll be a year to the very day since his first ever radio show on Northsound 1 - a station that goes out across Aberdeen and the north east of Scotland - when Gregor takes to Radio 1.
