Puzzle for Today

Puzzle No. 374– Monday 10 December

Nobel Prize laureates are given their Nobel medals today. So a primary school class bakes circular mince pies in the design of a Nobel medal. They cut each Nobel medal circular mince pie into three parts. The first portion is a quarter of the mince pie. The second portion is a third of the mince pie. In degrees, what is the angle of the remaining final portion of the mince pie?

Today’s #PuzzleForToday has been set by Bobby Seagull, a school Maths teacher and Cambridge University Doctorate student.

150 degrees.

One quarter = 90 degrees. One third = 120 degrees. 90 + 120 = 210. Total pie is 360 degrees, so the remaining portion is 150 degrees.
