Future Festival 2016
This year's line-up includes...
16-year-old singer-songwriter Billie Marten from Ripon in North Yorkshire has been supported by Radio 1 and BBC Introducing since 2014. She joins the Future Festival stage after the momentum of her November 2015 four-track EP ‘As Long As’ on Chess Club Records.
21-year-old rapper Loyle Carner has been turning heads in the UK hip-hop scene with his characteristically South-London vocal tone and family-centred, confessional lyrics. Carner has been racking up plays on Radio 1 and 1Xtra with his most recent EP ‘Ain’t Nothing Changed’ released on AMF Records.
Songwriter and producer Mura Masa’s music has garnered millions of plays in the past year – both on his own productions and his work with other artists including NAO, Bonzai and Billie Black. Masa has also racked up a number of plays on Radio 1, with his track ‘Love For That’ featuring Shura being chosen as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record In The World in October 2015.
East-London singer, songwriter and producer NAO put her first solo tracks up in July 2014 without a label, but it didn’t take long for her music to gain wider recognition. Annie Mac made ‘Zillionaire’ her Hottest Record back in May; since then, NAO’s had two records playlisted by Radio 1 and has toured with Disclosure as well as supporting Little Dragon on tour.
Pretty Vicious are a 16-18 year old Merthyr Tydfil-hailing four piece who have already shared the stage with Noel Gallagher, The Vaccines, Nothing But Thieves and Rat Boy alongside playing their own headline dates. With comparisons to the Arctic Monkeys, there are no surprises that they are one of the UK’s most talked about new acts this year.
London-based singer, producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rationale creates bold, boundary-hopping productions which are soulful and heartfelt. A favourite amongst the Radio 1 DJ’s, Annie Mac, Huw Stephens, Greg James and Clara Amfo have all given Rationale’s tracks a spin.
Section Boyz are an English MOBO award-winning rap group based in South London. The members are Swift (21), Deepee (21), Knine (23), Inch (21), Sleeks (22) and Littlez (23). The group has been together for only a year but their popularity is soaring after track ‘Delete My Record’ was playlisted by 1Xtra, their track ‘Lock Arff’ had over 3 million views on YouTube and their impressive 'Fire In The Booth’ performance for Charlie Sloth.
Rock ‘n’ roll with bundles of untapped potential, VANT are a British band formed in 2014 by frontman and songwriter Mattie Vant. The band are influenced by a vast spectrum of musical genres which are then all condensed into two-and-a-half-minute onslaughts. They’ve already had support from Annie Mac as she named two of their tracks as her Hottest Records In The World, and may have been spotted touring with previous Future Festival stars Royal Blood.
