Worst
Week of My Life brings wedding fiasco to BBC ONE
A new
BBC ONE comedy will explore the tension, mishaps and nightmares
that befall a groom during the week leading up to his wedding.
Worst
Week of My Life will star Ben Miller, known as one half of the comedy
duo behind Channel 4's Armstrong and Miller show.
Sarah
Alexander, who has appeared in
Coupling and Smack The Pony, will play his bride-to-be.
Each
episode of the seven-part series will feature the events of a single
day in the week before Miller's character's big day - and it is
a catalogue of mishaps.
BBC's
controller of entertainment commissioning Jane Lush, who commissioned
Worst Week of My Life along with BBC ONE's controller Lorraine Heggessey,
said: "We see him at work but a lot of the action takes places at
his in-laws.
"It's
about the planning of his wedding, all the worst nightmares and
faux pas you can imagine with your in-laws befall him. The humour
is very visual."
Worst
Week of My Life has been written by Mark Bussell and Justin Sbresni.
The
BBC ONE sitcom is being made by Hat Trick and is due to go into
production later this year and will be broadcast in 2004.
All the
BBC's digital services are now available on Freeview,
the new free-to-view digital terrestrial television service, as well
as on satellite and cable. Freeview
offers the BBC's eight television channels, interactive services
from BBCi, as well as 11 BBC radio networks.
