Kris Drever & Éamonn Coyne

Ó Bhaile Átha Cliath ó dhúchas, tá an ceoltóir Éamonn Coyne lonnaithe i nDún Éideann le haon bhliain déag anuas agus ba ansin a thosnaigh sé ag seinm leis an cheoltóir as Árcaibh, Kris Drever. D’éisigh siad albam le chéile in 2007, Honk Toot Suite, le ceol traidisiúnta as Éirinn, as Albain agus ón Bhriotáin, chomh maith le hamhráin nuascríofa. Bhí Éamonn agus Kris i mBéal Feirste do Fhéile Ealaíon Cheathrú na hArdeaglaise agus bhuail said isteach chuig an stiúideo chun labhairt le Lynette Fay faoi cad é mar a bhuail siad le chéile agus cad atá ar siúl acu faoi láthair. Chas siad cúpla pórt darb ainm The Peninsula Set agus chan Kris an t-amhrán Shady Grove chomh maith.

Listen

Originally from Dublin, Éamonn Coyne has been based in Edinburgh for the past eleven years. It was there on the music scene where he met and played sessions with Orkney-born Kris Drever. On their duo album Honk Toot Suite, Éamonn and Kris perform traditional music from Ireland, Scotland and Brittany alongside original tunes. Éamonn and Kris were in Belfast for the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival and popped into the BLAS studios for a chat with Lynette Fay about how they met and what they are currently up to. The two also played a few tunes from the Peninsula Set and Kris sang Shady Grove.
