Monday 27 May is a bank holiday – specifically, the Spring Bank Holiday!

This means schools will be closed and lots of adults get a day off work.

In England and Wales, there are usually eight bank holidays every year, while in Scotland there are nine and in Northern Ireland there are 10.

Bank holidays were created in 1871, and back then it was just banks and financial buildings that would close, which is where the name comes from.

But as time went on, businesses, shops, schools and the government all joined in.

What are your plans for Bank Holiday Monday?

We want you to tell us if you are doing anything fun this bank holiday.
