You might expect this on a beach, but a common seal has been taken to a wildlife hospital after being rescued from a field.
Police, firefighters, animal rescue officers and a farmer herded him with brooms and metal fences to take him to be looked after.
The seal was found by a dog walker in Merseyside, who alerted the police.
It is thought the animal could have travelled up to 32km up the River Mersey from the sea, before getting "lost".
RSPCA inspector John Brooks said: "This is the first time I have ever come across a seal in a field.
