These amazing pictures show how a Hong Kong Jewellery designer's managed to carve a face inside a priceless jewel.

It's the latest masterpiece from Chinese artist Wallace Chan. He trained as a sculptor's apprentice when he was 16 then taught himself how to cut diamonds using traditional tools and laser technology.

He burned the face of a Greek goddess into the middle of this huge sapphire using a special laser.

His customers include royalty and Hollywood celebrities.

Now he makes jewellery to look like ants, butterflies and other natural creatures in precious metals like gold and silver and huge gem stones including the biggest purple sapphire in the world.
