Johnny Depp speaks about giving up acting

Tissues at the ready, movie fans - Johnny Depp has said he may give up acting soon!

The 50-year-old actor told BBC Breakfast: "I wouldn't say that I'm dropping out any second, but I would say it's probably not too far away."

Don't worry if you're hoping to see Depp in the next Pirates of the Caribbean or Alice in Wonderland films though.

He reassured fans: "I think we're probably alright in those categories."

Depp explained: "When you add up the amount of dialogue you say per year, for example, and you realise that you've said written words more than you've actually had a chance to say your own words, you start thinking about that as an insane option for a human being.

"Are there quieter things that I wouldn't mind doing? Yeah."

Depp fan Anja from York has already emailed Newsround to say: "I am a bit sad that Johnny Depp is going to retire because he was a good actor. :("
