Amazing animal snaps from the National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest 2013

Newsround takes a look at some of the entries in The National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest 2013.
This curious whale shark got up-close and personal with photographer Jonne Seijdel during a dip in the Bohol Sea in the Phillippines.

These newly hatched Gentoo Penguin chicks were taking their first glimpse of the Antarctic wilderness when Richard Sidley took this adorable snap.

Here is a cheeky two year old mountain gorilla playing in the bamboo forest in Rwanda. The photo was taken by Peter Stanley in the Volcanoes National Park.

This beautiful leopard was captured by Douglas Croft when he was out on a morning drive through a game reserve in South Africa.

This pretty parrot was taking a peek at photographer Adam Lichtcsien from behind a leaf when this photo was taken. Adam was at a café in Peru which leaves fruit out for wild parrots. He was able to take this photo from just inches away.

This cute family of snow monkeys is keeping warm by cuddling up together. Petra Bensted who took the picture said the monkeys seemed a bit unsure about her!

Check out these amazing animal snaps from the US 'National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest 2013'. The competition showcases photos from around the world. This one was taken by Paul Lee and shows a pig taking a swim! It was taken in the Bahamas near an uninhabited island called Big Major Cay which is ruled by swimming pigs.

You might need to take a second look at this one! Mary Ellen Urbanski captured this alligator sunbathing on what she thought was a tree stump at a National Wildlife Reserve in Georgia, USA. On closer inspection she realised the alligator was actually sat on a turtle!

Here are two real-life Angry Birds! These two vultures were fighting when Majed Ali photographed them in the Maasai Mara in Kenya. The photographs have been entered into the National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest 2013 and the winner will be taken on holiday to the Galápagos islands!
