Billions of bugs are expected to emerge from the ground on the east coast of the United States.

The event is being nick-named 'swarmageddon' and some locals who have experienced it before are planning to flee the area.

Cicada bugs spend 17 years growing underground before emerging to find a mate.

The insects make loud clicking noises and can become as noisy as a pneumatic drill!

People have been told not to mow their lawn as the bugs can mistake the sound of power tools as their mating call.

Luckily the swarmageddon won't last too long - the bugs die shortly after laying their eggs.
