Video: Wimbledon 'the priority' for Murray

Andy Murray will prioritise being fit for Wimbledon over the French Open, his mother, Judy, has told Newsround.

The British number one retired from his second-round match at the Italian Open on Wednesday with a back injury, sparking fears he may miss both the French Open and Wimbledon.

"There's Wimbledon coming up which is always the priority," she said.

"He will make the sensible decision. If he has to miss the French, he has to miss the French."

Murray will have a scan on Thursday but has said he would be "very surprised" if he makes the French Open on 26 May.

"It's something to do with his back but the scan will let him see what the injury is and what needs to be done," said Judy.

The world number two struggled with a lower-back problem throughout the clay season last year.

Wimbledon starts at the All England Club on 24 June, little more than a fortnight after the French Open final in Paris.
