How to test a jet fighter helmet

Fighter jet helmets have to keep the pilot safe and secure - so it's no surprise they go through lots of safety testing.

At BAE Systems' Rochester plant, the latest models of digital fighter jet helmets are manufactured.

They allow pilots to see a virtual reality view of the airspace around them thanks to a system of LEDs on the helmet, sensors in the cockpit and cameras mounted outside the plane.
