GB golden girl Ellie Simmonds has smashed her own Paralympic world record in the 200m individual medley heats.

The swimmer clocked a time of three minutes 6.97 seconds to win her race.

"The race felt amazing, it was comfortable and it looks like I'm in top form ahead of the biggest race of my life," said the 17-year-old.

She's hoping to win her second gold of London 2012 in Monday afternoon's final. She took 400m freestyle gold on Saturday, with another world record.

Looking ahead to the 200m final Simmonds added: "I'm not thinking I have the gold, you never know what will happen."

There's still time for her to add to her gold medal haul. She's also taking part in the 50m and 100m freestyle events.
