Ricky reports on America's drought problem

While the UK suffers wet and cold weather in the summer, large parts of America are in their worst drought for 50 years.

The dry conditions are having an impact on crops like corn and soy beans.

More than 1,000 areas are being called disaster zones, and there are worries about big rises in food prices.

America is one of the largest producers of corn, so a bad harvest this year means there will be far less to send around the world.

Crops would normally be growing head-high ready for harvesting in the autumn.

But this year it's so dry, many plants have been damaged and they are only waist-high.

Watch Ricky's report to find out why a corn shortage could affect us in the UK.
