African elephant poaching on the rise

Elephant poaching in Africa is on the rise because more and more people want to get hold of their tusks.

Even though there's been an international ban on trading ivory for nearly 25 years, there's still a big demand from Asia.

China is becoming richer and it means more people can afford to buy ivory, mainly as carved decorations.

Tusks can sell for thousands of pounds, and that's what drives the poachers to kill the elephants.
