Sponsorship helps athletes afford to train to become world class

British athlete and Olympic hopeful James Ellington is looking for sponsorship so he can afford to train full time.

So, he's decided to take matters into his own hands and has put himself up for auction online.

With just 233 days until the London 2012 Olympics, he's in desperate need of funds so he can dedicate his time to his sport. The sprinter is not unusual as funding for professional athletes is not easy to achieve.

Joe spoke to Matt Slater from BBC Sport to find out why.
