SPOILER ALERT! X Factor's "big twist" for the first live show weekend has been revealed - the judges will each have to vote off one of their OWN acts!

There won't be a public vote, and a total of four acts will go home on Sunday.

Judge Louis Walsh said the twist's designed to make the contestants "step up a gear" for the live shows.

Gary Barlow explained: "This is the X Factor stage - it's one thing singing by the pool but it all changes here."

He added: "This is where stars are born, like Leona [Lewis] - it's all going to feel very different on Saturday."

The finalists were told the news by the judges on Thursday.

Tulisa Contostavlos assured the final 16: "Please understand all of you that none of us have made our decision.

"It's a clean slate and we are making our decision as if we have never seen you before."
