Scientists say that Nasa needs to look at new ways of cleaning up thousands of pieces of space junk from around the Earth.

A group of scientists are worried that there's so much space rubbish in orbit around Earth that lots of satellites or rockets could crash into it.

The rubbish travels at speeds of up to 17,500mph and is mainly old bit of satellites and pieces of metal.

Big magnetic nets or umbrellas are two of the suggestions for clearing it up.

Research estimates that about 1,000 satellites are at risk of crashing into the junk.
