Can The X Factor survive without Cheryl and Simon?

Last updated at 08:30

The X Factor returns to our screens this weekend with an almost completely new line-up of judges.

Louis Walsh told Leah that he wants this year's programme to be the biggest series so far and that it can survive without star judge Simon Cowell.

Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue aren't judging this year either.

Do you think that The X Factor will be as good this year without Simon and Cheryl? Can the show be better than last year with the new judges?

Maybe you reckon that Tulisa and Gary will be better mentors than Simon and Cheryl? Or perhaps you're really going to miss Dannii and think the show isn't going to be as good without her?

Your comments:

"I think it will be good, but I will miss Simon Cowell because he made the show fun to watch and he was a great judge."

Mashal, 12 West Midlands, England

"I'm so excited this year! This year's X Factor judges are feisty. I can't wait."

Emily, 11, London, England

"X Factor was rubbish from the start, even with Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell. I tried to watch it once and turned it off after about one minute. It won't survive."

Martha, 10, Stockport, England

"I think that the X Factor will be awesome with the new judges. I am a fan of N-Dubz so I'm excited to see Tulisa on the show this Saturday night."

Harry, 11, Nottingham, England

"Yeah! I will miss Cheryl and Simon a lot, but it's sometimes good to change. Gary is in Take That (I love them!), Kelly used to be in Destiny's Child, Tulisa is in N-Dubz, and it's only Louis who hasn't changed. Go Louis!"

Lillian, 9, Surrey, England

"I think it can but I'm still going to miss Cheryl and Simon. But come on! Let's give Tulisa, Kelly and Gary a chance first. For all we know they may even be good!"

Kimberley, 12, Birmingham, England

"I will miss the old judges sooo much, it's not the X Factor without them! I will miss Cheryl and Simon the most, they always made me laugh. I loved their bickering and complex relationship. Not sure if I am watching it this year. It will NOT be successful!"

Namrah, 13, London, England

"I think the X Factor will survive, Kelly has been in Destiny's Child and has had a great solo career too, and Gary is in Take That and Tulisa is in N-Dubz- they are all musically talented so they will know what to do on the judging panel. Louis is the best judge as he is not mean or too nice, he just tells it as it is. I am definitely still watching the X Factor, it is great!"

Tazmeen-Maria, 11, London, England

"No. I won't be watching it this year and neither will my family, not without Cheryl. She was the only thing that made it worthwhile watching."

Abigayle, 12, Cumbria, England

"I think X Factor will survive but just with less people watching. I think it is a shame neither Dannii or Cheryl are staying because they were great. I'm still watching though!!"

Joanna, 12, Dorset, England

"I have watched the X Factor every year but I will not be watching this time because of the loss of Cheryl and Simon, they are the X Factor in my opinion."

Beth, 13, Stoke-on-Trent, England

"It'll still be the greatest show on Earth. Can't wait to watch it, I'm counting down the days!"

Safa, 10, Kent, England

"I think Cheryl Cole was good. She went to my school and my teacher loves her!"

Liam, 10, Newcastle upon Tyne, England

"I think it will be the best one this year with someone that has done X Factor since the beginning and some new judges who will have different tastes. I am really excited!"

Brad, 10, Hampshire, England

"I think X Factor is doomed without Simon and Cheryl. How is Louis going to manage?"

Kate, 6, London, England

"I think the X Factor will be better than before. I will watch because Gary Barlow is on it; he is definitely the right judge and should have been on it from the start! PS: I love the new Xtra Factor presenter Ollie Murs!"

Phoebe, 10, Hull, England

"Give them a chance! Don't dis Gary and Tulisa. Yeah they're new to this but they have some idea what they're doing! Who knows, but I reckon they will be awesome!"

Gemma, 14, Salford, Manchester

"Well I think we should give the judges a chance. All three of them do have musical experience. But the show won't be the same without Simon!"

Lauren, 12, Staffordshire, England

"I want the SAME judges not all of this chopping and changing ALL the time!!"

Nicole, 10, Shropshire, England

"I just think there would be no point watching without the old judges. BRING THEM BACK!"

Jack, 10, UK

"It will survive! Simon was just negative, mean and horrible. And Cheryl was a good performer, but she wasn't a good judge. Gary Barlow will be brilliant because he's a member of Take That, who are the best band in the history of the world. I don't know much about Tulisa and Kelly, so I'm not sure what they'll be like. And Louis is fine, because he's not too nasty, but he's not too nice either... although saying that, he put Jedward through!"

Georgia, 13, Leeds, England

"X Factor probably won't survive without Simon or Cheryl but I'd give the new judges a chance!"

Shannon, 12, London, England

"I think it's a fresh start for the X Factor, especially because Gary Barlow is in it now. I will watch every episode, CAN'T WAIT!"

Vicky, 12, Derbyshire, England

"It won't be the same without Simon and Cheryl but I think they will make a surprise return later on!"

Russell, 11, Liverpool, England

"The X Factor is nothing without Simon! He makes the show what it is. The X Factor without Simon is like cereal without milk!!"

Alicia, 13, London, England

"I think it will make it better having younger people who have more to do with music because they're actually singers."

Niamh, 10, London, England

"It's not going to be the same without them. No-one can replace them! They're unique characters that make the X Factor what it is. No chance is it going to get better."

Marie, 13, Kent, England

"The old judges were great, but it would be nice to see how these new judges work. My personal favourite is Gary Barlow, because he has an amazing voice."

Sujat, 14, London, England

"I don't think the X Factor will be the same, but I could be wrong! I'm going to miss Cheryl but not Simon!"

Sameena, 13, Blackburn, England

"I think it won't be the same without the old judges. This doesn't mean we can't give the new judges a chance, but the old ones will be missed!!"

Aaina, 11, London, England

"It doesn't matter what judges they have, it's still going to be a rubbish show full of over the top wannabes!"

Jack, 13, Lancashire, England

"I think it will be ok this year, at least Simon is out of the way, when there are really talented people he still makes bad comments. I am sad that Cheryl won't be there this time, she was amazing."

Harbir, 14, Slough, England

"I think it will be rubbish because the judges don't know what they're doing!"

Gabi, 12, Derbyshire, England

"Let the new judges have a chance, they could surprise you! How do you know they won't?!"

Louise, 11, Bromley, England

"It will be rubbish without them in my opinion... they make the X Factor well, X Factor!"

Rebecca, 11, Naples, Italy

"I don't think it will be that good because the new judges don't have that much experience, they may choose the wrong contestants to go through to the next round."

Salma, 11, London, England

"I think Simon Cowell brings the show to life and the new judges do not suit the show at all."

Maia, 10, Bristol, England

"The X Factor will not survive without Simon but nobody would miss that Cheryl Cole!"

Dave, 12, Co. Down, N. Ireland

"I think that that this year's X Factor will definitely not be as good as last year, especially without Simon, Cheryl and Dannii. I have met Tulisa and I think she might be good, and Louis Walsh, but I am not quite sure about the other ones. To make it really good they need the right performers!! Can't wait to watch it!"

Lauren, 9, UK
