The government has said it wants to ban all testing on animals for household cleaning products like washing-up liquid, furniture polish, air freshener and bleach.

But it will still be legal to use animals to help find cures for diseases.

It's already against the law to test make-up on animals.

The testing of make-up or their ingredients on animals has been illegal in Britain since 2008.

The Home Office minister Lynne Featherstone said making animals hurt or suffer to manufacture household products was "unacceptable".

The plan will still have to be agreed by MPs before it can become law.
