Tom Friedman: America could face a bad century


Nearly one in six Americans is now living in poverty, according to new US Census figures revealed today.

President Obama is pushing for a $447 billion jobs program to put America back to work.

New York Times columnist Tom Friedman discusses the fundamental challenges the US economy faces over the next decade and century.

Speaking to the BBC's Katty Kay, the author of the new book "That Used to Be US" says that during this decade the US has to roll up its sleeves if it wants to ensure a "great century".
