Scaffolder cleared of attempted murder in Jersey

A man has been cleared of attempting to murder his friend by stabbing him in the neck in a drunken rage.

Gerard Eamon Maguire, 49, was charged with attempting to kill his friend Shaun Patrick Howard in Journeaux Street, Jersey, on 30 October.

The jury at Jersey Royal Court found the scaffolder not guilty after a four-day trial.

He was also found not guilty of grave and criminal assault, and of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
