A body found at a reservoir is likely to be that of a man missing for nine months, dental tests have concluded.

Adrian Lynch, 20, was last seen in the early hours of 5 December 2015 after his work Christmas party in Jersey.

The remains of a body partly submerged in water were discovered at Handois Reservoir in St Lawrence, near to where Mr Lynch went missing, on Thursday.

Jersey Police said dental records indicated a match "on the balance of probabilities" but was not conclusive.

Consequently the body can not be formally identified yet, the force added.

A post-mortem examination found "no signs of trauma or third party involvement" but was unable to establish the cause of death.

Samples from the body have been taken for DNA analysis for formal identification purposes.

Mr Lynch's family has been informed of the discovery.

Jersey Water, which owns the reservoir, confirmed the site is currently under control of the police.
