People have been kept inside for more than an hour after a car crashed into a gas pipe, causing a leak.

Emergency services were called to St Brelade's Bay just after 18:00 BST on Thursday, where police closed the roads and warned people not to leave houses, restaurants and shops.

The pipe was permanently fixed later that evening, Jersey Gas said.

The 25-year-old female driver of the car was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Police said their investigations into the crash were ongoing, but the driver had not been charged.
