Jersey unemployment 'at lowest level' in more than two years

The number of people "actively seeking work" in Jersey is at its lowest since 2011, according to States figures.

At the end of July there were 1,570 islanders registered as looking for work, which was 10 fewer than in June and 20 fewer than a year earlier.

A quarter of those have jobs but work less than 35 hours per week so are considered under-employed. That figure rose by 10 to 360.

Almost 30% of under-employed or unemployed islanders are under 25.
