Jersey baggage handlers vote against Easter strike

Baggage handlers at Jersey Airport have voted against a move to strike over the Easter weekend.

However, they have agreed to taking some form of industrial action. It is not yet known what that action will be.

Half of the 18 workers who are Unite union members took part in the ballot.

It follows potential changes to working hours and conditions due the codeshare agreement between airlines Aurigny and Blue Islands.

Unite union leader Nick Corbel said a meeting with Servisair, which runs the ground operations, is planned for Friday at the Jersey Advisory and Conciliation Service.

Airport officials said they were pleased the threat of disruption over the Easter holidays had been lifted.
