Jersey rock fall road is to reopen

A road that was closed in September causing severe traffic delays in Jersey will reopen on Thursday.

The road around Mount Bingham, in St Helier has been closed since 16 September after rocks fell from the cliff face.

Transport Minister, Deputy Kevin Lewis, said he hoped this would see an end to the congestion issues.

Contractor Geomarine has been working to stabilise the cliff face following routine inspection and maintenance.

Deputy Lewis said "the rock face on Mount Bingham was found to be in urgent need of a significant amount of stabilisation work and in the interests of public safety, Mount Bingham was closed to all traffic and pedestrians".
