Jersey roads face 40-year delay for resurfacing
There is a 40-year delay in resurfacing Jersey's roads because of a lack of funds.
The transport department said that at the current rate, each island road was improved every 58 years when it should be every 15.
Deputy John Young is investigating transport and said keeping up with resurfacing work was a "losing battle".
Transport Minister Kevin Lewis said talks were going on to get more funding from the treasury.
He said: "We can always do with more but we are repairing as many roads as we can and doing as much resurfacing as we can.
"We have our own budget every year but we are in talks with treasury at the moment to get more for resurfacing.
"It is never enough. We have about £3.5m but we could always do with more. If we had an extra allocation of £4m per year we could really bring everything up to date."
