Jersey parish constable election polls close

Polls have closed in the Jersey parish of Grouville where two candidates are standing for the office of constable.

The candidates are former president of the Jersey Farmers Union John Le Maistre and the parish's Chef de Police Charles Dix.

The office, which also includes a seat in the island's parliament, became vacant following the death of Dan Murphy in July.

Polls opened at 08:00 BST and turnout is thought to be more than 30%.

There are about 3,500 registered voters in Grouville and a result is expected before 21:00 BST.

The winner will be sworn in as constable on Friday.
