The biggest laser show ever seen in the Channel Islands will be in place at a Jersey festival on Saturday, its director has said.

Warren Le Sueur from Jersey Live said they had to get special permission from the authorities for the Fatboy Slim laser show.

The DJ is headlining the 10th Jersey Live on Saturday night. Other star acts include Chic featuring Nile Rodgers.

The event runs on Saturday and Sunday and has a capacity for 10,000 people.

Mr Le Sueur said: "It is the biggest show we have produced in 10 years, there will be three giant lasers which we have permission to use, a huge on-stage LED screen and screens to the side."

Warren Holt, festival co-director, said he expected the event to come close to selling out despite selling most tickets in the past week.

He said: "We sold 700 tickets in one day on Tuesday and have now sold more than 8,000, I expect us to come close to selling out by Saturday and will have tickets on the door if we haven't."

Other acts appearing include Example, Pete Tong and Bastille.

Jersey Police have said there will be fewer police on duty at this year's event and hardly any in 2014.

Insp Alan Williamson said: "We are hopeful that this being the 10th year of the event that next year we will be able to withdraw significantly, [but] we will always have a presence."
