Jersey businesses urged to consider communication needs
Jersey businesses are being urged to give consideration to people who may have difficulty communicating.
An event aimed at raising awareness with local companies and members of the public has been held at the Town Hall.
The More Than Words event gave people information about sign language and visual impairments.
Dr Lisa Perkins, head of speech and language therapy for Jersey, said she hoped the event would create more understanding of such issues.
As well as dealing with deafness and blindness, the fair also touched on issues such as autism and stroke rehabilitation.
The technology available to assist people with communication problems was also highlighted.
Angela Goddard, senior social work practitioner for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, urged companies to consider such difficulties.
She said sharing the burden was important.
