Jersey RAFA donates £65K to help servicemen and women

The Jersey branch of the RAFA charity has donated £65,000 to help airmen whose relationships have broken down.

The Royal Air Force Association in the island has donated the money to fund contact houses at RAF Brize Norton.

The airbase, the RAF's biggest, runs the houses as a place for servicemen and women to stay when they are having family problems.

The aim is for them to try to solve their differences in a neutral place, away from the family home.

Martin Willing, the chairman of Jersey's RAFA, said it was a very worthwhile project.

He said: "For those with marital difficulties and family worries these are houses... where people can go and stay and perhaps sort out their differences and re-establish their family ties."
