Jersey tax office collects 99.6% of the money owed

Jersey's tax office has collected 99.6% of money it was owed in 2011.

The Treasury said its tax collection rate had been improving for the past four years and 2011 was the best to date.

Treasurer of the States Laura Rowley said there was no room for complacency and was looking for more ways to get the tax it was owed.

In 2011, £1.5m was written off because those who owed money had died or left the island and were untraceable.
